Description

Cluster A introduces candidates to the mandate of the Specialized Educator in addition to exploring the base knowledge required in the special education profession. This cluster consists of four competencies which are broken into six assessments.

 

In 02FGa, candidates explore the mandate of the SET within inter-disciplinary teams in various agencies. To complete the competency, 02FGb addresses the ethical conduct and expectations of the profession. 02FJ explores the impact of expected milestones and transitions across the lifespan on the person and their families. Following that, 02FH encourages candidates to assess the factors leading to marginalization and its impact on the person. The competency 02FL is broken into two assessments. In part 02Fla, candidates will address the role of the SET in maintaining the health and safety of their clients in relation to drug distribution, ergonomics and safe handling. To complete the competency 02FLb, candidates will explore stress factors and prevention of professional burnout through wellness interventions.

Evaluation Description

Cluster A consists of six assessments, each with its own evaluation booklet. Evaluations in this cluster include interviews with SETs, written reports, analysis of case studies, and interviews with content specialists.
