Competency Description
Specialized Educators have particular roles to play within the profession. As such, it is important for the SET to understand and be able to define their specific role and job functions. To be awarded this competency, the candidate must demonstrate a broad understanding of the roles and responsibilities of the Specialized Educator in their work environment. The candidate is also expected to define the responsibilities of their work and situate their position within the work environment relative to other professionals working in the field. This competency also introduces the Intervention Planning process as a core job function of all Specialized Educator.
The awarding of this competency will assure that the candidate has a sound understanding of the role and job functions of the Specialized Educator, as well as a basic understanding of intervention planning in Special Education Techniques.
