Respecting issues of confidentiality, establishing safe and appropriate boundaries with clients, and adhering to a professional code of ethics and Federal/Provincial Laws are important considerations that the Specialized Educators needs to be aware of. The candidate should be able to recognize ethical and unethical or illegal behaviours in their work environment, and act accordingly within the norms and limits of the profession. The candidate also needs to demonstrate sound judgment within the work environment and implement the necessary steps to assure and protect the rights of the client, while at the same time respecting the laws and obligations of the profession. The candidate will also be able to identify laws that impact different client groups.
